This week, the Recall Advertising Creativity Award announced its long-awaited short-list, unveiling to the public the 59 pieces selected by the jury for this year's awards. Considered the biggest prize contested by agencies in the interior of São Paulo state, the Recall is now in its 19th edition and received a total of 266 entries.
Among those selected, 26 agencies from 17 cities are competing for the prize. Of all the agencies from the interior of São Paulo, Dls/ is the only one from Birigui on the short-list. It is rewarding to find ourselves among big names, taking part this year with three pieces that are a source of pride for our team.
Dls/ is competing with two pieces in the Design category: “Coleção Independência” and “Identidade Visual PET Jr”. The third piece, “Transformar Pixels em Arte”, represents the agency in the Graphic category.
“An idea for the idea's sake is not worth much. That is why everything we do here is designed with the client's results in mind,” says Alison Moreira, head of the creative team. As creative director, Alison is confident about the award nominations, certain of having done a great deal to give the creatives everything they need to deliver top-level work.
Designer Beatriz Scarso and illustrator Luís Prates were the main people behind the design of the nominated pieces and, together, they pulled off great teamwork creating the prints for Coleção Independência. “We created the campaign's entire visual concept together, including the five prints that were initially meant exclusively for eco-bags in a promotional activation. Each print was supposed to represent a region of our country, celebrating the diversity of our culture. As the project moved forward and the client approved each step, the prints stopped being a promotional activation and became the real stars,” explains Luís.
Besides her work on Coleção Independência, Beatriz also developed the visual identity for Pet Jr, an experience that left her deeply satisfied with the result. “Working on the creation of the Pet Jr brand and entering the pet segment definitely felt like beating the game of life, because we ‘pawsitively love’ our ‘fur babies’ and have quite a few. So that love was certainly poured into the whole production, from the brand to the entire identity,” she says.
After Luís's and Beatriz's work, it was video maker Vinícius Nunes's turn to help the videos convey some of the essence of what the clients were hoping for. About the awards, Vinícius says he felt grateful for the opportunity the team had earned. “It is very rewarding to be the only agency in the region competing with such big hubs, with remarkable professionals, and at an award as renowned as the Recall. We are always surprised by how far we get at every edition,” he says.
We now await the Recall Awards ceremony, when the winners will be announced, scheduled for November 8.
